Patrons Scheme

How you can support music-making at the ‘Wigmore Hall of the North’.

Thirty years ago, Olive Dobson, a lifelong Methodist, made a substantial bequest to Harrogate's Wesley Chapel so as to encourage music-making there. The decision was taken to buy a Yamaha concert grand piano, and Wesley Centre has been presenting high-quality lunchtime and evening recitals ever since.

We have built up an informed and appreciative audience that, together with the excellent acoustic and piano, has attracted many world-class performers to Harrogate. However, with most of the income coming from ticket sales, and prices kept as low as possible, the series is financially vulnerable.

Our Patrons Scheme is there to provide some financial stability and we’d encourage you to join. As a Patron you can donate as much as you wish, with the reward being the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting music excellence in Harrogate.

The scheme has proved a lifeline and today there are more than thirty Patrons contributing around 30% of our total income, with a regular grant from the Liz & Terry Bramall Foundation helping to further stabilise the security of the concerts.

With the generous help of Patrons we can continue to be ambitious in the planning of each season, while paying the artists a reasonable fee and keeping ticket prices afforable, and free for those age 26 and under.

Please join the scheme and make a real difference. Simply contact us below, or download and complete our patrons leaflet. Thank you!
